Preparing for Your Child's First-Time Visit

Your child should visit the dentist by his or her first birthday. You can make the first visit to the dentist an enjoyable and positive one. Your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and his staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions. We know a positive experience can set the tone for your child’s future dental health. That is why our office has been designed to be "kid-friendly." Even more importantly, Dr. Arias and his professional staff have dedicated their careers to helping children.

We establish trust with your child by creating a safe and happy place for them. The latest in dental technology is combined with genuine compassion and concern. It is best if you refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as needle, pull, drill, or hurt.

The office makes a practice of using words that convey the same message but are pleasant and non-frightening to the child. Welcome to our office for your child’s first visit. This appointment will be a time for us to gather information to better understand your child’s needs and wants, as well as to get to know each other.

When you enter our office for the first time, our appointment manager will greet you and welcome you to our practice. For us to be prepared for your appointment, please visit our website to download forms, or simply fill them out online at your leisure. The information from these forms will be inputted into our computer, and your child’s chart will be ready before you step into the office.

Exam

After personally reviewing the information provided about your child’s wants and needs, we will proceed with the examination. Your dental health coordinator will introduce you and your child to our examination area. She will customize the visit to meet your child’s age, level of interest, and attention span, so that your child will have a pleasant experience. Dr. Arias will evaluate the child’s mouth for present and future dental needs and customize a hygiene program and a treatment plan that agree with your needs and goals.

Appointment Overview

After your child’s examination visit, your dental health coordinator will review the appointment. She will address any unanswered questions and prepare your child for their next visit.
